Arete Industries designed, developed and deployed a multi-tier
Intranet business process tracking system to allow MCA Records
Production Department to schedule, coordinate and monitor all the
activities associated with the production of advertising copy
for all corporate product releases. |

The system duplicates and enhances those functions
previously coordinated by a staff of seven. The approval process,
previously a manual process handled telephonically and via eMail,
is now automated. Routing/distribution of the Artwork to the various
approval authorities is automated from within the intranet site.
All required activity is tracked automatically by the system.
Data is stored in a SQL Server database and accessed |

using Visual Basic database and businessobjects
running in a Windows 2000 COM+ environment. |

Arete Industries designed, implemented and deployed a complex data transfer
and processing system to integrate an operational AS400 legacy database system,
and an Internet Web Site Oracle based database, with a data processing
and reporting system being developed by Direct Partners Corp. for their client.
The system manages the back and forth exchange of marketing data on individuals,
and their communications (orders and inquiries) with the various partners involved.
Data Processing includes order processing, address correction, and de-duplication
(merge/purge). The system was developed with tracking and logging functionality built in.
A management console was designed and implemented to allow remote operation and
monitoring of all regularly scheduled data processing tasks. |

Arete was called upon to convert an entrepeneur-developed database driven Web Site
into a scaleable and highly available transaction based business internet site.
Arete was primarily responsible for the overall architectural design and
development of the company's multi-tier redundant and scaleable web site system.
When complete, the site was handling over 350,000 page reads/day and had been
continuously available twenty-four hours a day for seven months with minimal
unplanned outages. The Web site formed the core of the corporate business model
and generated monthly revenue in excess of $250,000.
Arete personnel also assisted in creating and staffing the firm's network
administration, desktop support systems, technical inhouse software development
and quality assurance departments, and assisted in the acquisition and purchase
of all corporate hardware and software infrastucture. |

Arete Industries was called upon by WMC Mortgage Corp to assist in-house
developers in the development of an online wholesale mortgage loan submission
system, designed to allow independent mortgage brokers in the sub-prime market
to submit mortgage applications directly via the Internet, and monitor submitted loan
applications as they progress through the underwriting process. The system was
designed and implemented using SQL Server and COM based Microsoft Transaction
Server (MTS) components. The system processed submitted loan files and
validated and persisted the data to an MS SQL Server database (driving the Internet site),
as well as to the the company’s legacy loan origination and processing database system.
Arete developers also designed and implemented the COM components for an
automated underwriting system, currently in use by the company to underwrite
all Internet submitted loans, and which will be deployed throughout the company’s
wholesale branch offices to allow underwriters and loan agents to manually
initiate an underwriting process on demand from any of the companies branch offices. |

Arete Industries developed or contributed to five client server multi-tier
database applications for Universal Studios Information Technology Group (USITG):
- Application to manage data associated with Universal’s major motion picture premiere events.
This system managed invitations, transportation and seating arrangements, guest lists and
seating charts. It handled extensive address and contact data
for over 15,000 celebrities and entertainment industry executives.
- A data entry and management application for the data associated with
MCA Records’s Artist's itineraries was also designed and developed.
Developed with MTS/SQL Server and IIS DHTML/ASP, this intranet/extranet
Web application allowed the public to easily access artist planned musical events.
It also allowed internal MCA Records personnel to monitor Artist’s recording sessions
and other scheduled itinerary events.
- Critical components of a content Management system. Arete developed several middleware
and business objects running as MTS components, which implement database connectivity for an
idatabase ntranet application designed to allow the Motion Picture group to globally manage all audio,
video, and photographic publicity data files associated with Universal released motion pictures.
- Designed and developed the SQL server, MS Exchange Server and MTS Middleware components
for an Intranet Classified Advertisement site.
- Designed SQL Server and MTS Components for Intranet Job Posting Site.
